From academic excellence and a robust co-curricular program to a deeply caring faculty and a tightly-knit community, our parents have appreciated the balance of a Dutchess Day School education for generations. That balance is evident in many areas, but perhaps clearest in the juxtaposition of innovative and current teaching practices, housed within the “Tower House,” a traditional turn-of-the-century farmhouse. Each day, our students leave home, arrive at DDS, and step into their educational home, a structure that retains much of the warmth and feeling for which the building was originally designed. For many, this is what attracted them to Dutchess Day in the first place. As we look to a bright, but unknown future for our children, it is clear that we need to remain at the forefront of best educational practices to ensure their success.
It is also clear, in order to remain at the forefront, we will need to reflect on our 19th- century facilities and consider thoughtful renovations to support our mission. This year’s Spring Gala, we will have the opportunity to do so. Tulips & Juleps is dedicated to supporting 21st- century learning within our 19th- century farmhouse. We look forward to your support, as we both embrace our cherished traditions and prepare our children for the future.
