Beginning on March 30, 2020, Dutchess Day School closed its campus and began online learning in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and in accordance with best practices outlined by the CDC and the state of New York.
The Lower and Upper Divisions each have developmental appropriate online learning schedules, which balance academic vigor with a recognition that increased screen time is not in children's best interest. Through Microsoft Teams and various applications such as Seesaw, Flipgrid, Safeshare, and Pear Deck our faculty have embraced synchronous and asynchronous methods of instruction.
In addition to three-hours of online instruction, students continue to meet regularly with their homeroom or advisory groups several times a week, and co-curricular courses such as physical education, art, and music are still an active part of our students' lives.
