Art Blast – Exhibition at Millbrook Library
From January 10 to January 31, Millbrook Free Library is hosting an art exhibit for Dutchess Day School and the Millbrook Central School District. Artwork by students in preschool through 8th grade will be on display. On Saturday January 31 there will be an artists’ reception from 5- 7 pm with a concert by the NYC based Jazz band Walking Distance . The Catskill Jazz Factory, owned and operated by DDS parents Lucy and Piers Playfair, is organizing the jazz concert. Walking Distance combines the talents of Caleb Curtis (alto saxophone), Kenny Pexton (tenor saxophone), Adam Coté (double bass), and Shawn Baltazor (drums). The group will be celebrating the release of their self-produced debut album Neighborhood, which is a combination of melodic swing, grooving rock, free bop, and ballads. DDS will have 21 artists from preschool through eighth grade participating in the exhibit. The exhibit is open to the public and can be viewed during normal business hours.
