Interview and School Tour

We like to meet with prospective parents to show you life at Dutchess Day School and to discuss the applicant’s educational future.

Application

Parents should fill in the form entitled Parent’s Application and return it to Dutchess Day School:

• January 16 for the Early Notification Program open to all children of DDS alumni and
• January 31 for all other K-8 applicants
• Preschool enrollment is done on a rolling basis beginning in October.

Admission decisions are made to Early Notification applicants in mid-February. All other K-8 applicants are notified on March 10. Applications which are completed after this date will be reviewed on a rolling admission, space-available basis and should, therefore, be completed as soon as possible.

Class Visit and Evaluation

After a student has applied to Dutchess Day School we invite the applicant to visit the school.

Pre-Kindergarten: Applicants visit DDS upon application and meet with the Preschool Director.

Kindergarten: Kindergarten applicants visit DDS for a morning in the four year old class.

Grades 1-8: Applicants visit DDS for two consecutive days. During this time applicants will be evaluated by classroom teachers and our Director of Testing.
