Board Letter

When the group of citizen activists formed Dutchess Day School in 1955 they would have been astounded by the idea that some day people could visit the school without actually setting foot on the campus.

Technology has transformed the way we share information, and nowhere more profoundly than in the classroom. Students and teachers are able to access worlds of information and data at a dizzying speed, and schools and institutions are able to share pedagogical ideas and resources at the press of a button.

Dutchess Day School has come a long way from its beginnings in 1954 but it has not lost sight of its original mission, which is to value children’s natural curiosity and foster an enduring enthusiasm for learning.

The images on these web pages capture both the old and the new spirit that fills this school every day: the collaborative learning in each classroom, the laughter in the hallways, the team spirit on the athletic fields, the curiosity in the science lab, and the echoes of music on the stage, all of which is orchestrated by a highly trained and dedicated faculty.

I invite you to take a virtual tour of Dutchess Day School, and then come see in person what a special place it is.
